PSHB Coverage and Care

As a proud participant in the Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program, the NALC Health Benefit Plan delivers comprehensive, affordable PSHB coverage and care for you and your family. Our plan meets all standards for Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) and the Minimum Value Standard under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The NALC Postal Health Benefit Plan ensures dependable protections under PSHB program.

No Pre-Existing Condition Limitations:— Medically necessary treatments are covered from day one.

Family Member Coverage—Eligibility Under PSHB Coverage and Care

Your PSHB Coverage and Care supports those who matter most:

  • Spouse (includes common-law in recognized states)

  • Children under age 26 (biological, adopted, step, foster)

  • Disabled children over 26, incapable of self-support (if disability began before 26)

  • Married dependent children up to age 26

Update your family status in the PSHB system. Dependents turning 26 are automatically disenrolled unless eligible for continued support.

Ensuring Children’s Health—Children’s Equity Act Compliance

When a court mandates health benefits for a child—we ensure their coverage is in place—as required by the Federal Employees Health Benefits Children's Equity Act of 2000.

Personal Mandated Enrollment

If a court orders you to provide healthcare coverage for your child - it is your responsibility to coordinate with your employing office to have your child added and to have your policy updated to the correct Self Plus One or Self and Family plan if needed.

Continuous Coverage

You may not remove the child from your plan while the court order remains in effect.

Your Action

Contact your employing office if you are the enrollee—they will guide you through this process.
